LAHORE: According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will not agree to moving the Asia Cup 2023 to a neutral location.

Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India has reservations, the PCB is eager to host the event on home territory (BCCI).

According to further sources, PCB would proceed with the tournament in Pakistan even if India decides not to take part.

In addition, if the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chooses to shift the event to a neutral location, the Pakistani team will not participate.

The PCB will also send a new letter to the ACC and the member nations requesting an urgent meeting to discuss the problem.

Note that India will not be travelling Pakistan for the Asian event, as stated unilaterally on Tuesday by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah. Additionally, Shah stated that the BCCI will insist on a neutral site for the competition.

The PCB expressed “surprise and disappointment” at the BCCI’s stance and warned that such remarks would affect Pakistan’s ability to compete in the World Cup in India in the upcoming year.
