IPL is a stand-by Indian Premier League. It is basically a T-20 cricket league contested by ten teams taking place in ten Indian cities.
The league was established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007. It basically takes place between March and May of every year and has an absolute window in the ICC Future Tours Programme.
New IPL Teams in 2022:
RPSG Group of Sanjiv Goenka and CVC Capital, an international investment firm, have bagged the two new IPL teams.
The exact winning bid for the new two IPL teams are:
- For Lucknow (LSG) team ,RP – Sanjiv Goenka Group
- For Gujarat Titans(GT) team, CVC Capital
Gujarat Titans (GT) with Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) are the two new teams introduced into the IPL. Both teams will face off against each other on March 28 at the MCA stadium in Pune at 7.30 pm to get their campaign begun.

“BCCI is exposing all options which include overseas IPL as well. But the focus is to entertain the IPL in India for sure. As of now, the priority is the auction, and the board will soon take a call,” – BCCI official.
BCCI is considering an option to start IPL round the 4th week of March to decrease the dual in IPL 2022.
The 2 new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad – are expected to be given at least 15 days once the CVC issue is closed for signing its players and that could have a rub-on effect on other IPL activities.
